The year 9 girls played host to the Willingdon year 10 team in this late league fixture that was to be held indoors. A bit of a slow start for the girls with no one really getting stuck in, allowed Willingdon to have a confident look at the beginning of the game. ETC gave away a lot of free kicks in the first few minutes that gave Willingdon the opportunity to strike at goal, Shantelle Omar however made some good saves to keep the game at 0-0.Finally a break through came when Hannah Blundell and Lauren Hughes worked the ball up the pitch for Hannah to finish, making it 1-0 ETC. Willingdon however responded with a great strike to even things up. Still ETC had a lot of possession but failed to pass the Willingdon keeper. The closing stages saw us keeping possession well to create openings, strikes from Lauren Hughes and Charleigh Crotty made the score 3-1 at half time.The second half started as the first ended, the only difference being a change in goal keeper, Charleigh Crotty kindly allowed Shantelle Omar to have a go on pitch. The score soon went to 4-1 with Blundell getting her second strike of the game; Omar was also quick to get herself onto the score sheet taking it to five for ETC. Lola Olusanya, and Bekkie French weren’t shy in getting stuck in and Emily Gillam had a couple of good shots saved. Again Willingdons striker netted herself a second fantastic goal with a strike of precision and power making it 5-2. Lauren Hughes answered by finishing a well worked team goal. Jazmine Izzard was strong as always in defence and Willingdon struggled to get anywhere near our goal in the closing stages of the game.Some great passing moves lead to 2 more strikes for Shantelle Omar, finishing the game ETC 8; Wllingdon 2; a first-class performance by the year 9s.
